The Mediterranean
The "Cote Vermeil," or Ruby Coast has always been a haven for artists.
A region much favoured by Fauvist painters, it is here where Matisse, Dufy, Gris and Picasso, among others, excelled in their art, mostly in the town of Collioure, which is renowned for its light. This lovely and quaint fishing village dates back to Roman times, and can be reached by car from the Hôtel de la Cité in approximately one hour.
