Carcassonne Airport:
10 minutes by car. Flights scheduled to and from London Stansted, Liverpool, East Midlands, Dublin, Shannon and Brussels-Charleroi airports to Carcassonne.
Railway Station:
5 minutes by car.
Nearest major airport:
Blagnac Airport in Toulouse – 60 minutes by car.
On leaving Blagnac Airport, take the motorway A61 in the direction of Montpellier/Carcassonne. As you approach Carcassonne, 2 exits are indicated. Take the second exit, Carcassonne Est (East Carcassonne). Follow the road signs for La Cité or Cité Médiévale. On reaching the Citadel, follow the road signs indicating the access to the guarded car park for hotel guests, going by the walls of the old cemetery. (See Arriving by car section below)
Coming in by train from Toulouse:
A shuttle bus service runs every 20 minutes from Blagnac Airport (Toulouse) to Toulouse Railway Station. Travelling time: approx. 25 minutes, depending on traffic. Train Toulouse – Carcassonne: approx. 1 hour (several trains during the day).
Arriving by Car
If you plan to arrive at Hôtel de la Cité by car, the fastest way to access Carcassonne is by autoroute A61, the exit named Carcassonne Est. Follow the signs which say 'La Cité'. In a few minutes you will be alongside the medieval citadel. Hôtel de la Cité is located in the interior of the citadel, near to the Basilique Saint Nazaire.
Traffic is forbidden in the citadel between 10:00 a.m. and 20:00 p.m. To reach the hotel you will need to park your car in the (free) car park reserved for clients of the hotel which is located outside the city walls. When you arrive at the main entrance of the citadel, follow the signs 'Accès Parking Clients Hôtels'.
You will arrive in a car park with a Guard at the entrance. An employee of the hotel will be in the car park and will organise your transfer to the hotel.
The traffic restrictions may be changed according to the wishes of the Municipal Police, making it possible to drive into the citadel outside the indicated hours. In this case, if you would like to leave your car outside the citadel, upon your arrival please contact us so that we can send a member of staff to pick you up.
