French President Jacques Chirac met Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar for an official luncheon at the Hôtel de la Cité in Carcassonne on Thursday 6th November. 

The Hôtel de la Cité was reserved by the French Government for this prestigious event.  Messrs. Chirac and Aznar first met for discussions in the medieval Citadel of Carcassonne at the Château Comtal.  The two Heads of State and theirministers next went to the Hôtel de la Cité and signed the hotel's Golden Book   This was followed by a luncheon prepared by Chef Franck Putelat at the hotel's La Barbacane Restaurant.  A Press Conference was held later in theafternoon at the hotel.
